“Pines to the Mountains” Lawn Bowls Competition

The weekend of March 25th-27th, members of the Asheville Lawn Bowls Club were in Pinehurst for the “Pines to the Mountains“ inter-club event.  The format calls for two matches a year, with Asheville bowlers coming to Pinehurst each Spring and members of the Pinehurst Lawn Bowls Club traveling to Asheville each Summer. The event includes a weekend of bowls and fellowship and it has proven to be a wonderful opportunity to not only have a great bowls competition, but to form wonderful relationships among members of the two clubs.

The prize for the “Pines to the Mountains” competition is the beautiful Tucker-Sarbey trophy, named in honor of long-time members of the two clubs, Jackie and George Tucker from Pinehurst and David Sarbey from Asheville.  This time around, the Pinehurst team was victorious, but things may be very different when the event moves to the extremely fast artificial surface in Asheville late this summer.  Both teams are looking forward to being together again on the green.
